An updated overview of Chinese agriculture — a must-save reference.
It covers farming-system zones (how many crops per year), main cultivation systems, regional agricultural features and the distribution of major crops: maize forms a diagonal belt from northeast to southwest, led by Shandong, Jilin, Hebei, Heilongjiang, Liaoning, Henan and Sichuan; rapeseed concentrates in the Yangtze basin; peanut in eastern warm-temperate to tropical sandy and hilly areas; soybean production peaks in the northeast spring-sowing and Huang-Huai-Hai summer-sowing zones; sugarcane favors heat and water while sugar beet prefers cool, saline-tolerant short seasons.
Also mapped: forest regions (Greater Khingan, Changbai, Hengduan mountains), temperate apples, subtropical citrus and tea, and tropical fruits.
