The 21st China Scientists Forum was held in Beijing on April 27-28, drawing nearly 2,000 scientists, scholars and entrepreneurs from across the country. Under the theme "Chinese-style modernization and systematic innovation in science and technology," the forum aimed to advance China's scientific innovation and high-quality development and promote exchange and cooperation. The sixth China Enterprise Chief Scientists Forum was held concurrently.
Zhang Baowen, Vice Chairman of the 12th NPC Standing Committee, and Ma Peihua, Vice Chairman of the 12th CPPCC National Committee, attended the event. Zhang said scientific and technological innovation is a key pillar of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and the essential path to high-quality development, noting that China is at a critical stage of transforming from a large science and technology country into a strong one.
Liu Ke, Chairman of Shandong BNSD Biotechnology Co., Ltd., attended as a specially invited guest and was honored as a "Ten Years of Excellence" science and technology figure. BNSD was the designated recommended modern pesticide brand of the 21st forum. The company said it will carry forward the forum's guiding principles of building the nation through science, pursuing efficient development and innovation-driven growth.
Forum Chairman Chen Gui noted that since its founding in 2002 the forum has held 21 sessions, promoting scientific thought, the scientific spirit and industry-academia-research cooperation, and that it will evolve from a purely academic exchange platform into an empowerment platform for collaborative innovation, building enterprise innovation consortia around Chinese-style modernization.
In the opening session, CAE academicians Wu Yiling, Liu Jizhen, Jin Yong, Fan Daiming and Liu Daxiang delivered keynotes on anti-aging research, the energy revolution and new power systems, carbon neutrality, integrated medicine, and general aviation and emergency rescue capability.
Sub-forums covered new energy, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, information technology, new materials, ecological civilization and health sciences, and the science-and-technology innovation survey for the 22nd forum was launched. Other speakers included Liu Yanhua, Zhang Jing'an, Yin Weilun, Ni Weidou, Hou Li'an, Wu Fengchang, Kuang Tingyun, Han Buxing and Wang Zhaokai, member of the US National Academy of Engineering.
More than 90 outstanding entrepreneurs, including Shen Hengping, Pan Qiusheng, Pang Zhiren, Xu Zhenyan, Zhou Lin, Chen Qiong, Wang Wenzhi, He Chengshu, Yao Denggui and Ge Yanan, shared their innovation experience at the forum. The event was jointly organized by the China Technology Market Association, the China High-tech Industrialization Research Association, the China International Science and Technology Cooperation Association, the Business School of the Chinese Academy of Management Science, the Entrepreneurs Branch of the China Society for Futures Studies and Discovery Magazine.
